At Raglan Rest Home & Hospital, our volunteers — our Happy Helpers — play a big part in bringing connection, comfort, and community spirit into our home. We’re looking for people who can spare a little time to help with small but meaningful tasks that brighten our residents’ day.

Our current volunteer needs include:

• • Friday Drives to Kahu’s nest — We have a Rest Home Van that can seat 5 passengers and 1 wheelchair.

  • Companionship visits — sitting with residents, chatting, reading together, or simply being present.

  • Pet visits — bringing in friendly dogs for cuddles and comfort; huge mood‑boosters.

  • Activity support — helping with bingo, quizzes, crafts, music sessions, or gentle exercise groups.

  • Arts and crafts help — guiding small creative projects that give residents a sense of achievement.

  • Outdoor walks — accompanying residents for fresh air, short strolls, or time in the garden.

  • Room tidying and organising — assisting residents to organise photos, keepsakes, or personal items.

  • Event support — helping with special occasions, shared kai, cultural days, or family gatherings.

  • Music and storytelling — playing an instrument, singing, or sharing stories from the community.

  • Tech help — supporting residents with phones, tablets, video calls, or digital photos.

  • Supporting Independence – Some residents just need company going for a walk or doing a shop in town.
  • Cleaning Bird Cage or Fish Tank  or Gardening – Some volunteers may prefer to volunteer their time in other ways.

Happy Helpers don’t need special skills — just kindness, reliability, and a willingness to show up. Even an hour makes a difference.
