Powered by Volunteers
From events to everyday support, our community thrives because of the time, skills, and aroha our volunteers give. They’re the heart of what we do, and the reason Raglan shines.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of Whāingaroa, bringing energy, skills, and care to every corner of our community. From environmental projects and community gardens to health services, arts initiatives, and local events, volunteers make Raglan a vibrant, connected, and resilient place to live.
Every hour donated by a volunteer contributes to something bigger – helping our community thrive, supporting those in need, and creating spaces where people feel valued and included. Volunteers don’t just donate their time; they build relationships, share knowledge, and strengthen the social connections that makes Raglan unique.
Raglan Refill is what it is because of our volunteers. It is through their dedication that we are able to provide affordable package-free shopping in Raglan. – Eloise Deller, Raglan Refill manager (2025)
Local organisations like Raglan Community House, Whāingaroa Environment Centre, Community Energy Whāingaroa, Timebank, Raglan Refill, and the Raglan Old School Arts Centre rely on volunteers to deliver programmes, host events, and run essential services. From running workshops and supporting local movies, to planting trees, beach cleans, or keeping our visitors informed, every role has a real impact.
Volunteering is a two-way gift. While the community benefits, our volunteers gain connection, new skills, and a sense of purpose. It’s a way to give back, meet new people, and strengthen the wellbeing of both individuals and the wider community.
Our volunteers make a difference every day, and help build a stronger, more resilient Whāingaroa.
