Raglan Community House
Since 1987, the Raglan Community House has been here for Whāingaroa – offering support, programmes, and a welcoming space to connect.
More than just a building, it’s a hub for growth, wellness, and community spirit.
The Community House began in rented premises, staffed entirely by volunteers. In 1990, Mike Rarere was appointed as the first full-time coordinator, helping to build a stronger foundation for the organisation. After four more years of planning, fundraising, and construction, the new whare opened at 45 Bow Street, Raglan – becoming the heart of community life.
Today, the Raglan Community House continues to evolve as a progressive, community-driven organisation. It offers a range of programmes and services designed to foster wellbeing, empower individuals, and build connections across the community.
Support is available for everyone, including free budget advice, low-cost counselling, Justice of the Peace services, tech support, and room hire. The Community House Op Shop (open 10am–3pm, Monday to Friday) provides great bargains while welcoming donations of quality clothes, books, and bric-a-brac.
The Health Shuttle offers affordable transport to and from Hamilton for medical and health-related appointments. Meanwhile, the Drop-in Lounge invites locals and visitors to enjoy a comfy spot for a cuppa and friendly company, any time between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Whether you’re seeking support, connection, or just a place to belong, the Raglan Community House is nurturing the wellbeing of Whāingaroa.
