New Zealand Pro at Manu Bay

The World Surf League (WSL) is bringing its Championship Tour to New Zealand shores with Raglan selected as the fourth stop.

Raglan will take centre stage on the global surfing calendar when The New Zealand Pro comes to our coast. Running 15–25 May 2026 the event marks the first-ever combined Men’s and Women’s WSL Championship Tour event held in Aotearoa.

Over the 11-day event window, the world’s top 36 men and 24 women surfers will compete at Raglan’s world-class left-hand point break, widely regarded as one of the best waves of its kind globally. The event celebrates Raglan’s deep surfing heritage while showcasing the town to an international audience of fans, media and visitors.

Supported through the Government’s Events Attraction Package, the New Zealand Pro is expected to deliver significant benefits for the region – attracting international visitors, stimulating the local economy and enhancing New Zealand’s profile as a destination for major sporting events.

Local leaders have welcomed the announcement as recognition of Raglan’s global surfing reputation, while emphasising the importance of aligning the event with community values and environmental care.

A strong focus on community and future pathways sits alongside the elite competition. The event will include New Zealand wildcard entries, awarded through the national surf series, as well as the WSL Rising Tides programme, giving young surfers the opportunity to surf alongside Championship Tour athletes at Manu Bay. Local under-14 surfers will also have the chance to take part as board caddies, creating memorable, hands-on experiences and inspiration for the next generation.
